Rebecca
Fry, M.A., NCC, Resident in Counseling - VA
Rebecca
is a native of Alexandria, VA where she was raised in a Christian
home. Her faith walk led her to complete a B.A. in Interdisciplinary
Black Studies at the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Through both classroom and life experiences, Rebecca was challenged
to understand God’s love for diversity in our world.
In the hope of sharing God’s love with others she went
on to complete an M.A. in Community Counseling at Regent University
in 2007.
Rebecca’s
unique faith background informs her counseling. Rebecca is
currently a member of the Episcopal church, but she and her
husband are also active participants in the Catholic tradition.
As a practicing non-Catholic, Rebecca has insights into both
the complexity and beauty of the Catholic faith. She also
understands the potential complications for ecumenical marriages,
and the need for compromise and cooperative growth in faith.
As well as being
Catholic, Rebecca’s husband is an ensign in the United
States Navy. Rebecca is familiar with the strains that public
service can place on a marriage and has learned the difficulty
of long-distance communication first hand.
Rebecca interned
at Bethany House of Northern Virginia, a faith-based shelter
community for domestic abuse survivors and their children.
This experience demonstrated to her the transforming power
of God in lives challenged by violence and homelessness.
Rebecca enjoys
working with all clients, but especially enjoys working with
couples, young women, and adolescent females.
Her theme scripture
for Christian counseling is Ephesians 4:2-6 “Be completely
humble and gentle; be patient, bearing one another in love.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through
the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit - just
as you were called to one hope when you were called - one
Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who
is over all, and through all, and in all.”
