Mary
Ann Morgan, M.A., NCC, LPC
Mary
Ann is a counselor with nearly twenty-five years of experience in disciplines,
which include business and academics. Her decision to enter the counseling field
was spiritually motivated and this impetus influences her approach to therapy.
In the therapeutic setting, Mary Ann combines life experience and spiritual conviction
with sound counseling principles. Her philosophy of counseling is eclectic, with
an acknowledgment of God as the primary influence in the healing relationship.
Mary Ann
holds a Masters in Community Counseling from Regent University,
where she was granted the Award of Excellence for Outstanding
Graduate in the School of Counseling and Psychology. She is
listed in the Who's Who of College Students. Mary Ann holds
the National Certified Counselor (NCC) designation and Licensed
Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and is also currently
working towards licensure in Virginia. She also served as
a faculty member of the Undergraduate Psychology Department
of Regent University.
Mary
Ann interned at the Family Life Center in Fort Belvoir, Va. and completed a practicum
at Gospel Rescue Mission, an in-patient addictions recovery facility in the District
of Columbia. After Hurricane Katrina, Mary Ann spent two weeks as a mental health
volunteer with the American Red Cross, working with victims in Alabama and Mississippi.
She also served for four years as a volunteer, Christian mentor for women at the
Arlington County Jail in Virginia. She has worked in the areas of childhood, marriage,
family, addictions, sexual addictions, divorce, anger, stress, depression, substance
abuse, sexual abuse, women's issues, anxiety, trauma, co-dependency and grief
among other issues. Mary
Ann is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Association
of Christian Counselors (AACC), and the Christian Association for Psychological
Studies (CAPS). She and her husband attend Word of Life, Assembly of God in Springfield
Va., where they have been active members for over eleven years. |
